Amsterdam

Most young people in the Netherlands cringe when asked about Jesus. They become resistant, walls go up, and the conversation ends. Our team guides people in talking honestly and openly about Jesus in a welcoming environment so young people can encounter Jesus and experience hope and peace in a relationship with him.

Briana Trout

Briana loves having people in her home, especially when she gets to share a fun meal she created. She worked as a registered dietitian back in the US before going on staff with the Navigators and has a passion for good food and helping others live a healthy lifestyle centered on Jesus. She enjoys connecting with God while on the move, whether that is hiking through the mountains, swimming laps at the local pool or taking a stroll through the park. She loves getting the chance to share her life with international students and wants to continue using the things she loves to bring them closer to Jesus. She is enjoying being a mom to her daughter Naomi and loves spending time laughing and going on adventures with her husband Scott.

Scott Trout

Scott Trout is passionate about the power of stories. He studied acting at the university of Wyoming in the US and thought he would spend his time telling those stories on stage. Instead God radically shifted his focus to seeing his story in light of God’s ongoing story of redeeming humanity. Scott now brings his storytelling passion to his work with the Navigators reaching international students in Amsterdam whether it is through a weekly bible study, or 1-1 discipleship, or a podcast he recently started interviewing Christians and non Christians about their stories of faith. Scott and his wife Briana have been married 4 years and just welcomed their first child, Naomi June, into the world. A new story is about to unfold.

Douglas Turner

Douglas: The Navigators have been a huge gift to me. Encountering a genuine christ-centred community where I could share the rawness of my faith and my journey in an encouraging, open space, was what empowered me to establish and grow in a personal relationship with God. I want to advocate for the next generation of believers who feel segregated from faith to pass on the same gift that I’ve received.

Joel Dotinga

After my university studies in the United States I moved to Amsterdam for a two year internship. During this time my heart for this city grew as I enjoyed the cultural diversity and at the same time saw how this can be a place of diverse backgrounds coming together in unity to discover truth. In my play time I love board games, biking, and exploring Amsterdam’s many waterways by kayak with my wife!

Dawson Weiss

Dawson first connected to the Navigators ministry while studying at the University of Colorado in the United States. During those years, her faith journey was greatly impacted by the authentic friendships she developed and the encouragement she received to be vulnerable and ask hard questions. With a passion to pass on that gift, she moved to Amsterdam after graduation where she enjoys connecting with people from all backgrounds and creating intentional, Christ-centered community. Dawson loves music, sports and coffee and is ready for the next adventure, especially when it involves people and new experiences!

Victoria Monreal

Victoria enjoys a lot of things. She enjoys reading, training for triathlons, cooking healthy food (especially eating), board games, traveling... The list goes on. Her real passion, however, is getting to know Jesus more and helping others do the same. She grew up as a military kid moving around the world, and after graduating from Texas A&M University with a major in School Health, felt God calling her to go overseas with the Navigators. She loves living relational, daily life with the diverse international students of Amsterdam as they seek the truth and love found in Jesus.
